Soviet Union had always been rather closed and even kind of mysterious place for the West. Now, it is believed that foreign tourists visited it quite rarely and even if they did, it was Moscow or Saint-Petersburg only. But actually, it is not really true and a lot of tourists from different countries did travel around Soviet Russia and it was not only the capital or other big cities, it was also Siberia, far East region, central region.
Here, I collected a few the most interesting pictures from different foreign photographers like Seppo Tuominen, John Schultz, Dean Conger, James Abbe, Howard Sochurek, and other who made lots of photos from all over the USSR in the period from 1932 to 1991. Part 1: 55 photos.
Also, see the second part of the USSR through the eyes of foreigners.
