Baku, the capital of Azerbaijan is now experiencing a striking transformation from a former Soviet country to something resembling the contemporary Dubai. Old neighbourhoods and industrial areas turn into huge parks, ultramodern buildings, and beautiful European streets. Shining and catchy.
But, despite the fact that Baku is changing really fast, sometimes if you turn off the main street you can go back in time and face old Soviet quarters, shabby bystreets, and poor urban slums.
Go deeper into residential neighbourhoods and you will see absolutely different pattern.
Very likely that these places will be changed as well soon. Maybe it will be replaced by new business centers or recreation parks or anything else.
So, brilliance or poverty?
